Our biggest, thickest and heaviest barrelling waves. Two variations of The Beast, including Beast Plus when it’s offshore. Thrilling and addictive.

1.6m-2.0m (and thick).

12-16 seconds.
Surf Level
You currently surf the main break in your area as often as you can. You catch several waves a session, able to stick late take-offs, have been barrelled before and are comfortable in bigger conditions.

Smaller Crowds
With just 12 surfers on each side of The Point.
Suitable For
Expert surfers who have mastered the fundamentals, understand surfing etiquette, and can comfortably ride waves above 2.0m. You should be able to paddle, duckdive, take-off, generate speed, perform turns, and negotiate thick, slabbing barrel sections.
Safety Overview
Please ensure that you have watched the safety video and completed your waiver before arriving. Please arrive 45 minutes before your session.
The water depth at The Point is 1.5 to 2.5 metres deep, there are strong currents moving throughout the lagoon including the rip to assist you in paddling out to The Point. We recommend that you can swim 50 metres confidently to do a session on The Point.
Surfing the Expert Sessions
Perfect Slabs
Our Expert surf sessions are all about getting barrelled – when the wind’s blowing onshore, we’ll run two variants of The Beast optimised for S/SW winds. And when it’s offshore? It’s Beast Plus time.
Day Or Night
Our state-of-the-art stadium sports lighting makes early morning and night surfing in Melbourne possible, running until 10pm in the Summer months.
Small Crowds
Surfer numbers are capped at 12 on each side of The Point during expert surf sessions, so that you’ll score around 18 waves in 1 hour. Surfer priority is managed with a strict but fair one-at-a-time system – wait your turn, and when your wave comes, it’s yours.
Extra Safety
To ensure everyone’s safety, we’re offering free Simba helmets for use during Expert surf sessions, and surf guides will be in the water with you to provide tips and supervision.
