About Surf In The Bays
The Bays offer safe, gentle, rolling green and whitewater waves perfect for those who are learning to play in the waves.
Our Surf In The Bays sessions are located in The Bays, which is the area nearest the shore.
This session is in an isolated area of the pool to Boog In The Bays, and families are recommended to book the same session type if they wish to stay together.
Only softboards are permitted in The Bays, with softboard hire included in your session.

Suitable for
These surf sessions are a great way for you to go solo and build confidence in the white water, as well as practice your positioning on the board. Surf In The Bays is also perfect for practicing what you recently learned from your Beginner Lesson and continuing to practice your positioning on your board.
Alternatively, this is a great setting to teach your significant other the first steps in their surfing journey!
Please note that higher fees may apply during high-capacity sessions, as a dedicated Surf Guide will be made available to help enhance your experience.
Safety Overview
Please ensure that you have watched the safety video and completed your waiver before arriving. Please arrive 45 minutes before your session.
The water depth in The Bays is up to 1.2 metres deep, there are currents moving throughout the lagoon. We recommend anyone under the age of 10 to have a Surf Buddy in the water.

The gentle, rolling green and whitewater waves in The Bays are perfect for having fun on a softboard, and practicing skills recently learned in a surf lesson. Grab your family and friends, because it’s the best place in Melbourne to get stoked, together!
Day or Night
Our state-of-the-art stadium sports lighting makes early morning and night surfing in Melbourne possible, running until 10pm in the Summer months.
Limited Crowds
To ensure high wave counts, surfer numbers are capped in each of The Bays, per session. Surfer priority is managed with a strict but fair one-at-a-time system – wait your turn, and when your wave comes, it’s yours.
Surf In The Bays is capped at a maximum of 16 people per 1 hour session.

When you book in to Play In The Bays, you’ll also receive 2-hour softboard hire and all-day access to URBNSURF Melbourne’s amenities, including parking, hot tubs, changerooms, landscaped spaces, and a free locker to store your valuables.

Swim In The Bays
Enjoy Crystal-Blue Water In A Safe, Controlled Environment
Offering gentle, ocean-like conditions, Swimming In The Bays is the ultimate Summer activity for families and kids. Patrolled by our trained lifeguards, you can swim in crystal-blue water while surfers ride endless perfect waves out the back. Available on Fridays between 11am-4pm, and on weekends and public holidays between 10am-2pm, you can have fun and cool off before enjoying lunch together at Three Blue Ducks. Priced at $20 for adults, $15 for children for a 2-hour swim pass.

URBNSURF Professional Photography Services
URBNSURF photographers are on site each day to capture your perfect waves. Whether you are a pro or just starting out, we take photos of sessions both at The Point and in The Bays including lessons. Photos are available within an hour of your surf either onsite at the URBNSURF Green Room-Hut or online. The high-quality images make a great memory of your experience.
