Surf Skate Lessons
About land based surf training
URBNSURF lagoon provides a world class training facility for surfers of all levels to benefit from guaranteed quality waves and consistent repetitions in order to progress surfing performance. Our land-based surf training lessons take this rate of progression to whole new level by teaching each surfer how to simulate the fundamental movements required to rip when they are away from the water or between sessions. Using specialised surfskate boards which are designed to mimic the movements of surfing vastly increases the number of repetitions that can be done in a training session, allowing surfers to hone their skills on land and reap the benefits in the water.
Novice
This lesson provides the novice surfer who normally rides small green faced waves on a softboard or long/midlength fibreglass board an introduction to the Smoothstar surf trainer.
You will learn:
- Key elements of generating speed to ride across a green face wave
- Introduction and execution to basic manoeuvres such as a bottom turn on forehand and backhand in order to drop in, turn and redirect on the a green face wave
- Full understanding of which parts of the body control a surfboard whether in whitewater or small green face waves
- Control, power and flow
Groups Lessons are a max of 6 people or you can opt for a private 1-on-1.
Safety first: Surfskate lessons are weather dependent. If the surface is wet or poses any risk to guest safety the lesson will be rescheduled.

Intermediate
This lesson is for surfers who can consistently paddle into green faced point break style waves on a hybrid/midlength board and want to enhance aspects of their surfing style and technique.
You will learn:
- To solidify the fundamental building blocks of surf simulation on land for performance surfing
- Key focus on surf technique, speed generation and control
- Full understanding of which parts of the body control a surfboard whether in whitewater or small green face waves
- Introducing or improving your turns and connecting manoeuvres
Groups Lessons are a max of 6 people or you can opt for a private 1-on-1.

An awesome opportunity to have expert coaching delivered in a private one-on-one setting to enhance your surfing skill with land based training.
