Updated Monday, 19 October 2020

After a six-month flat spell, we’re excited to announce that perfect waves will return to URBNSURF Melbourne from Wednesday, 21 October, after we temporarily closed the park earlier this year due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

We welcomed the Premier’s announcement on Sunday, 18 October that COVID-19 restrictions will be eased further, including:

  • Permitting metropolitan Melbourne residents to travel in a 25 kilometre radius from their homes, up from 5 kilometres.
  • Relaxing outdoor swimming pool restrictions, such that we can welcome up to 30 surfers on each side of our two-hectare surfing lagoon per hour (or 60 in total).
  • Abolishing the two-hour time limit on outdoor exercise.

Bookings for our Play In The Bay sessions and Learn To Surf lessons in The Bays, along with our Cruiser, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert surf sessions at The Point, are open now via URBNSURF.com.

While initially only surfing guests will be permitted at the park, as restrictions ease further spectator visits will resume, and more of URBNSURF Melbourne’s areas and amenities will open, including our new restaurant and café by Three Blue Ducks, our retail store Lagoon Supply Co., our lagoonside hot tubs, and our kids playground. We have also shortened our booking calendar to 4 weeks in advance for guests for the time being, to avoid disappointment if restrictions are reinstated. We’ll continue to keep you updated via this page, our fortnightly email The Forecast (which you can subscribe to using the form above), and our Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

This week, we’ll be open:

  • On Wednesday, October 21st: From 6am-10am, and 4pm-9pm.

From Sunday, October 25th onwards we’ll be open from 6am-10pm daily in Spring – see our new weekday and weekend schedule below:

As health and safety is paramount, we have introduced new measures to ensure our members, guests and crew enjoy a COVID-safe surfing paradise in Tullamarine. These safety measures include:

  • Encouraging online bookings via URBNSURF.com for all surf experiences, including sessions and lessons.
  • All guests and crew must wear masks, except when surfing. Sneeze guards have been installed in all guest facing areas (including Check In, Surf Rental and the Surf Academy) to further limit the spread, and hand sanitiser is available at various locations around the park.
  • Pre-surf safety briefings will be conducted in smaller groups, with guests required to enter and exit the water at different times to reduce contact.
  • Our changerooms and hot tubs remain closed until restrictions ease further, however our outdoor hot and cold showers remain open. Our retail store, Lagoon Supply Co., also remains closed.
  • Maximum guest limits have been imposed for all indoor areas as signed around the park.
  • Additional cleaning and sanitation procedures have been implemented throughout the park, including enhanced sterilisation of Surf Rental wetsuits, boards and surf hardware between uses.

Before you visit URBNSURF Melbourne for your next surf, we’d like to remind you to please:

  • Complete an online safety waiver, which you can access via your booking confirmation email. To limit the spread of COVID-19, our waiver iPads will be temporarily unavailable, and our friendly CX crew will ask that you sign the waiver using your mobile device.
  • If you’ve already been issued a wristband, make sure to bring it with you – if you need a new one, a $5 replacement fee will apply.
  • Wear a mask (as required by law in Victoria) and practice social distancing while at the park, including in the lineup.

CORONAVIRUS SAFETY UPDATE: CURRENT OPERATIONS

Updated Thursday, 25 June 2020

We continue to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely, and follow the advice of the Victorian and Australian governments.

Consistent with the Victorian Government’s gradual easing of restrictions for sport and recreation (which limits numbers to 20 per separate area for outdoor swimming pools), we are currently running our Cruiser, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert surf sessions at The Point only, with a maximum cap of 18 surfers on each side of our 2 hectare surfing lagoon.

In the interests of guest and crew wellbeing, and to comply with current restrictions:

  • Only surfing guests are permitted at the park. The Surf Academy remains closed, and surf lessons, spectator passes and Play In The Bay sessions are temporarily unavailable.
  • Our indoor showers and change rooms remain closed, however toilets can be used.
  • Our Surf Rental store and Lagoon Supply Co. are open, however the number of guests permitted within each indoor space at any one time is limited by the four square metre rule.
  • All hire surfboards and wetsuits are cleaned and sanitised between uses.

We would like to remind our members, guests and crew to:

  • Observe social distancing and keep at least 1.5 metres apart at all times while at URBNSURF Melbourne, including during safety briefings, entering and exiting the lagoon, and while in the lineup.
  • Observe signed capacity limits for URBNSURF Melbourne’s indoor areas.

CORONAVIRUS SAFETY UPDATE: RE-OPENING ON FRIDAY, JUNE 19th

Updated Wednesday, 3 June 2020

URBNSURF is stoked to announce that URBNSURF Melbourne will officially re-open to the public on Friday, June 19th.

Consistent with the Victorian Government’s gradual easing of restrictions for sport and recreation (which limit numbers to 20 per separate area for outdoor swimming pools), on re-opening up to 18 surfers will be permitted on each side of our 2 hectare surfing lagoon. This means our 1 hour surf sessions will run as normal – including our new Expert and Cruiser sessions – however all surfers will be required to keep at least 1.5 metres apart at all times, including in the lineup.

In the interest of guest and crew wellbeing, and to comply with the current restrictions, we have made some temporary changes to our business operations. These include:

  • Only surfing guests will be permitted at the park. The Surf Academy will remain closed, and surf lessons will not be available for purchase. Spectator Passes and Play In The Bay sessions will also not be available for purchase.
  • Our indoor showers and change rooms will remain closed, however toilets can be used.
  • Our Surf Rental store and Lagoon Supply Co. will re-open, however the number of guests permitted within each indoor space at any one time will be limited by the four square metre rule.
  • All hire surfboards and wetsuits will be cleaned and sanitised between uses.

We also encourage our guests to:

  • Complete your safety waiver online (via your booking confirmation email) and shower at home prior to visiting.
  • Use clean towels, wash your hands regularly, and avoid touching your face, mouth, eyes and nose with your hands.
  • Observe social distancing of at least 1.5 metres apart at all times.
  • Stay at home if you are feeling unwell, or have tested positive to the virus.

As restrictions are eased further, more of URBNSURF Melbourne’s areas and amenities will become available – and we’ll keep you updated via this page.

We’re also excited to announce that our annual maintenance, which we brought forward to avoid a shutdown in August, has been successfully completed and our lagoon is currently being refilled. Our new Winter schedule is finalised, and we’ll be re-opening bookings for our members and guests in just two weeks’ time!

To be notified when bookings become available, and for all the latest updates, subscribe to our email newsletter The Forecast and follow us on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

CORONAVIRUS SAFETY UPDATE: CLOSURE EXTENDED, PLANNING WINTER REOPENING

Updated Wednesday, 13 May 2020

In line with new measures announced by the Australian and Victorian governments to ease coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, URBNSURF Melbourne will remain closed in May 2020.

While ocean surfing has been permitted, this is consistent with advice issued by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on Monday, 11 May 2020 that all public swimming pools, outdoor pools, and ocean baths remain closed under the new measures.

However, we remain optimistic that as coronavirus restrictions are relaxed further in the coming weeks and months, we will be permitted to re-open sometime in Winter and have perfect waves pumping again in Tullamarine.

As our closure has been extended, we’ve made the decision to undertake our annual Winter maintenance early. This will ensure that our lagoon and wave-generator are in top working condition, and to avoid a shutdown in August when these works were originally planned.

As the situation develops, we’ll keep you updated via this page, our fortnightly email newsletter The Forecast (which you can subscribe to using the form above), Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Many thanks again for your continued support during this crisis, and we’re stoked that we’ll be able to welcome you back to surf more with your family and friends soon.

Cheers,

Damon Tudor, CEO, URBNSURF Group

CORONAVIRUS SAFETY UPDATE: TEMPORARY PARK CLOSURE

Updated Monday, 23 March 2020

We have made the difficult decision to close URBNSURF Melbourne temporarily from tomorrow, being Tuesday, 24 March 2020, until initially Friday, 1 May 2020.

The Australian and Victorian Governments have recently announced tighter restrictions for non-essential businesses. While we previously put in place a range of measures to ensure guest and crew safety, we now believe it is socially responsible for us to temporarily suspend operations. We have not been notified of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the park, and we’ll continue to monitor and follow advice from relevant authorities.

At this stage, our plan is to re-open URBNSURF Melbourne on Friday, 1 May 2020, however this may change as the situation develops – so we’ll keep you updated on any further developments via this page, our email newsletter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. Once it’s safe to do so, we’ll be stoked to welcome you back so you can #surfmore perfect waves with us.

To our members

We have paused your monthly billing cycle, your current entitlements will remain valid, and we will extend the duration of your membership for the period of time we’re closed. If you’re booked in for a session or lesson from 24 March onwards, we’ll provide you with a credit for your bookings, to use once we re-open.

To our multipack holders

Your current entitlements will remain valid, and we will extend the duration of your multipack validity for the period of time we’re closed. If you’re booked in for a session or lesson from 24 March onwards, we’ll provide you with a credit for your bookings, to use once we re-open.

To our guests

If you’re booked in for a session or lesson from 24 March onwards, we’ll provide you with a credit for your bookings, to use once we re-open. For the time being, surf sessions, surf lessons, spectator passes, multipacks and new memberships are not available for purchase, however our gift cards remain on sale.

In the coming days, you’ll receive an email from our friendly CX team regarding a credit for your booking(s). If you haven’t heard from us by Friday, 27 March, or if you have any questions, please contact our friendly CX team at [email protected]. We appreciate your patience in us responding to you, as we’re currently receiving a high volume of emails and calls.

We encourage our members, guests and crew to stay safe, and help limit the spread by following government advice, practicing social distancing, washing your hands regularly, and avoiding touching your face, mouth, eyes and nose with your hands.

Many thanks again for your continued support during this crisis, and we look forward to having you back and surfing with us soon.

Stay safe,

CORONAVIRUS SAFETY UPDATE: SPECTATOR PASSES, FUTURE BOOKINGS

Updated Thursday, 19 March 2020

As we continue to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely, we wanted to share an update with you regarding visiting and surfing at URBNSURF Melbourne.

All surf sessions and surf lessons are running as normal, and our park amenities remain open.

However, in the interests of guest and crew health, safety and wellbeing, we have made some minor changes to our business operations.

From today (Thursday, 19 March 2020) until further notice:

  • Our Spectator Passes will not be available for purchase, and only surfing guests will be permitted at the park. For any guests who have purchased a Spectator Pass for Thursday, 19 March onwards, we will honour your booking, and you will still be able to enter the park and enjoy URBNSURF Melbourne’s amenities. To our members who usually have the benefit of unlimited Spectator Pass access, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your understanding at this time.
  • We are limiting future bookings via our online booking calendar to up to Sunday, 19 April 2020. We will continue to honour all current and future bookings, but we want to reduce the risk of disappointment for our members and guests should we be required to take further preventative steps as advised by the authorities.

We would also like to remind our guests to complete their safety waiver online (via your booking confirmation email) prior to visiting, to reduce your time in contact with other guests and crew.

We encourage all of our guests and crew to stay safe, and help limit the spread by practising social distancing, washing your hands regularly, and avoiding touching your face, mouth, eyes and nose with your hands.

If you have tested positive for the virus, or are otherwise feeling unwell, we ask you not to visit URBNSURF Melbourne and seek your doctor’s advice.  If you have received medical advice that could impact your booking, or if you have any questions, please contact our friendly CX team at [email protected].

Many thanks again for your continued support, and we will keep you updated on any further developments as they happen.

Cheers and happy surfing,

URBNSURF
